Verblinx ("Verblinx," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Verblinx Inc. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Verblinx mobile application (the "App"), how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using Verblinx, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the App.

a) Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — used to identify your account, log you in, and send password-reset codes
• Username — a display name you choose
• Password — stored only in encrypted (hashed) form; we never store or see your plain-text password

You can browse verbs and use core features without an account. An account is only required to save favourites and sync your progress across devices.

b) App Content & Usage

• Favourites and practice progress — the verbs you bookmark and your practice activity, linked to your account so they sync across your devices.

c) Microphone & Speech (Practice "spoken answers")

When you choose to answer practice questions out loud, the App accesses your microphone and uses your device's built-in speech-recognition service (provided by Apple on iOS or Google on Android) to convert your speech to text so it can check your answer.

• Speech recognition is optional and only active when you turn on voice mode and tap to speak.
• We do not record, store, or transmit your audio to our servers. The audio is processed by your device's operating-system speech service, which is governed by Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.

d) Information Stored on Your Device

• An authentication token is stored securely on your device (in the iOS Keychain / Android Keystore via secure storage) to keep you logged in. It is removed when you log out.

e) Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
• We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or browsing activity.
• We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account and authenticate you
• Save and sync your favourites and practice progress
• Send transactional emails such as password-reset codes
• Operate, maintain, and improve the App
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats

We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the App, and only as needed:

• Hosting/infrastructure provider (Railway, where our backend and database are hosted) — stores your account and favourites data on our behalf.
• Device operating-system speech services (Apple / Google) — process your spoken answers, as described above.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data (email, username, favourites, and progress) from our active systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

5. Your Rights & Choices

• Access, correction, deletion: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us (see Section 9). You can also delete your account from within the App / by request, which removes your personal data.
• Microphone: You can disable voice/spoken-answer mode at any time, and you can revoke microphone permission in your device settings.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California), including the rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and to object to certain processing. We honor these requests regardless of where you live.

6. Data Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) transmission, hashed passwords, and secure on-device token storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

7. Children's Privacy

Verblinx is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Users

We are based in Canada, and our service providers may process and store your data in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
